Update contract in Ironclad

One executed amendment. A repository that matches it.

Book a Demo

The problem

The amendment is signed. The record still shows the old terms.

Amendments extend dates, change pricing, and add scope. Once signed, the PDF gets filed, but the contract record in Ironclad keeps the original end date and value.

Renewal alerts fire on the wrong date, spend reports show last year’s number, and anyone checking the repository sees terms that no longer apply.

The outcome

Repository data matches what was signed

Stepwork updates the contract record’s terms, dates, and value in Ironclad to reflect the executed amendment. The run records who asked, which amendment it came from, and the old and new values.

  • The request names the executed amendment.
  • An amendment that does not match the contract stops the run.
  • The Slack reply shows the old and new values.

The process

From executed amendment to an updated record

Legal ops posts the executed amendment in Slack. Stepwork updates the record in Ironclad, in the same order every time.

  1. Step 1

    Request it in Slack

A contract manager posts the executed amendment and the contract it changes in the legal ops channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.

  2. Step 2

    Open the contract record

Stepwork signs in to Ironclad and opens the contract record. If the amendment’s counterparty or contract does not match the record, the run stops.

  3. Step 3

    Apply the amendment

Stepwork updates the terms, dates, and value to match the executed amendment, the same edits legal ops makes by hand.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm and reply in Slack

Stepwork checks the saved record against the amendment, then posts the old and new values back in Slack.

Why Stepwork

The record follows the signature

Stepwork runs the amendment update path you recorded in Ironclad. It only enters executed amendments, so the repository reflects what was signed and nothing else.

  • No. The request must name an executed amendment. If the amendment does not match the contract on the record, the run stops and nothing changes.
  • Yes, as a separate flow. Launching a contract workflow from a template starts a new request in Ironclad with the counterparty and key terms filled.
