Launch workflow in Ironclad

One Slack request. A complete contract request the first time.

The problem

Half the fields are missing. Again.

Contract requests reach legal through email threads: an NDA here, an MSA there. Most leave out the counterparty’s legal name, the address, or the key terms, so legal writes back before any work starts.

Each clarification adds a day. By the time someone launches the workflow in Ironclad, the business has been waiting on a contract that has not started.

The outcome

Contract requests enter the pipeline complete

Stepwork launches the named workflow in Ironclad with the counterparty details and key terms from the request. The run records who asked, which template it used, and the workflow it launched.

  • The request names the template, the counterparty, and the key terms.
  • A required field missing from the request stops the run.
  • The Slack reply includes the new workflow’s ID.

The process

From Slack request to a launched Ironclad workflow

A requester posts the template and terms in Slack. Stepwork launches the workflow in Ironclad, in the same order every time.

  1. Step 1

    Request it in Slack

A teammate posts the template name, the counterparty’s details, and the key terms in the legal requests channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.

  2. Step 2

    Open the template

Stepwork signs in to Ironclad and opens the named workflow template. If it cannot be found, the run stops.

  3. Step 3

    Fill and launch

Stepwork fills the counterparty details and key terms into the launch form. If a required field is missing from the request, the run stops before launching.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm and reply in Slack

Stepwork checks the launched workflow against the request, then posts the workflow ID back in Slack.

Why Stepwork

Legal starts with a complete request

A deterministic agent runs the launch path you recorded in Ironclad. Required fields come from the request up front, so legal reviews the contract instead of chasing details.

FAQ

Common questions

  • Post the template name, counterparty details, and key terms in Slack. Stepwork opens the template in Ironclad, fills the launch form, and replies with the workflow ID.
  • No. Stepwork only launches the workflow. Review, approvals, and signatures follow your Ironclad workflow as usual.
  • Yes, as a separate flow. Sending an envelope from a template in DocuSign suits routine agreements that do not need a legal workflow.
