Reassign sequences in Outreach

One Slack request. The book keeps working the day they leave.

Book a Demo

The problem

The SDR left. Their prospects went quiet.

When an SDR leaves, their active prospects stop getting touches. Sequences sit under a deactivated user, and nobody notices until the pipeline report dips weeks later.

Moving them by hand is slow, and restarting sequences from step one means prospects get the same intro email twice.

The outcome

A departed rep’s book keeps working

Stepwork moves the departed rep’s active prospects and sequences to the successor named in the request, with each prospect kept at the same step. The run records who asked and how many prospects moved, as part of employee offboarding.

Employee offboarding
  • Active prospects and sequences move to the named successor.
  • Each prospect keeps its step position.
  • A successor who is not an Outreach user stops the run.

The process

From Slack request to a reassigned book

A sales manager posts the departed rep and their successor in Slack. Stepwork moves the book in Outreach, in the same order every time.

  1. Step 1

    Request it in Slack

A sales manager posts the departed rep and the successor taking over in the sales ops channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.

  2. Step 2

    Find their active sequences

Stepwork signs in to Outreach and lists the departed rep’s active prospects and the sequences they are in. If the successor is not an Outreach user, the run stops.

  3. Step 3

    Move to the successor

Stepwork reassigns each prospect and sequence to the successor, keeping every prospect at the step it had reached.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm and reply in Slack

Stepwork checks that nothing active is left under the departed rep, then posts the counts back in Slack.

Why Stepwork

Handoffs keep their place in the sequence

A deterministic agent runs the reassignment path you recorded in Outreach. Prospects continue where they left off, so nobody hears the same opener twice.

FAQ

Common questions

  • Post the departed rep and their successor in Slack. Stepwork moves the active prospects and sequences to the successor in Outreach and keeps each prospect’s step.
  • No. Each prospect keeps its step position, so the next touch is the one they were due, now sent by the successor.
  • Those move in a separate flow. Reassigning a departing user’s Salesforce records hands their accounts, open opportunities, and open cases to a colleague.

  • Use pausing Outreach sequences for an out-of-office rep instead. It holds their sends and notes the resume date, without moving anyone.
