Create user with profile and role in Salesforce
Automatically create a Salesforce user from a Slack request with Stepwork. Set the profile, role, and license their job needs, so they start with the right access.

- Best for
- Salesforce Administrator, IT Administrator

- Employee experience
The problem
The profile is picked from memory.
A new rep starts, and a Salesforce admin builds their user by hand. They choose a license, a profile, and a role, often by copying whoever had the job last.
Pick the wrong profile and the rep cannot see their accounts, or can see far more than they should. Pick the wrong role and reports and sharing roll up to the wrong manager. Nobody notices until something looks off.
The outcome
They sign in with the access their job needs
Stepwork creates the Salesforce user with the profile, role, and license from the request. The new hire starts with the right access, and the run records who asked and what was set.
- Profile, role, and license come from the request.
- A username that is already taken stops the run.
- A profile or role that does not exist stops the run.
The process
From Slack request to a ready Salesforce user
A manager posts the new hire’s details in Slack. Stepwork creates the user in Salesforce Setup, in the same order every time.
- Step 1
Request it in Slack
A manager posts the new hire’s name, work email, profile, and role in the onboarding channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.

- Step 2
Fill in the new user
Stepwork signs in to Salesforce, opens Users in Setup, and starts a new user with the name, email, and username. Salesforce usernames are unique across every org, so a taken one stops the run.

- Step 3
Set profile, role, and license
Stepwork picks the license, profile, and role named in the request, then saves the user.

- Step 4
Confirm and reply in Slack
Stepwork checks the saved user against the request, then posts the result back in the onboarding channel.

Why Stepwork
The same job gets the same access
A deterministic agent fills in the same fields in the same order for every new hire. The profile and role come from the request, not from whoever picks up the ticket.
