Create requisition in Coupa

One approved intake. One requisition, keyed once.

Book a Demo

The problem

Approved at intake. Typed into Coupa again.

An intake request clears approval, then procurement re-keys it into Coupa: the supplier, every line item, the cost center, and the justification.

The requester waits while the copy sits in a queue. Re-keyed lines drift from what was approved, and the purchase order that follows inherits every mistake.

The outcome

Approved intake reaches the PO stage without re-keying

Stepwork creates the requisition in Coupa from the approved intake. The run records who asked, which approval it came from, and the requisition it created.

  • The request names the approved intake.
  • A line total that differs from the approved amount stops the run.
  • The Slack reply includes the requisition number.

The process

From approved intake to a Coupa requisition

Procurement posts the approved intake in Slack. Stepwork enters the requisition in Coupa, in the same order every time.

  1. Step 1

    Request it in Slack

A buyer posts the approved intake request in the procurement channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.

  2. Step 2

    Start a requisition

Stepwork signs in to Coupa and starts a new requisition for the supplier on the intake. If the supplier is not in Coupa, the run stops.

  3. Step 3

    Enter lines and coding

Stepwork adds each line item with the cost center and the justification. If the line total does not match the approved amount, the run stops before submitting.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm and reply in Slack

Stepwork submits the requisition and checks it against the intake, then posts the requisition number back in Slack.

Why Stepwork

What was approved is what gets requested

A deterministic agent runs the requisition path you recorded in Coupa. Lines and coding come from the approved intake, not from someone re-keying it a day later.

FAQ

Common questions

  • Post the approved intake request in Slack. Stepwork starts a requisition for that supplier, enters the lines, cost center, and justification, and replies with the requisition number.
  • No. The intake is approved in your normal process first. Stepwork enters that approved request and stops if the line total does not match. Any approval chain Coupa applies still runs as usual.
  • Often from Zip. Creating a Zip intake request from Slack puts the purchase into your approval chain, and once it is approved, this flow turns it into a Coupa requisition.

  • Yes, if NetSuite is where your POs live. Creating a purchase order in NetSuite from an approved request is a separate flow.
