Create a JumpCloud user with groups
Automatically create a new hire’s JumpCloud user from a Slack request with Stepwork, then add the groups that bind their apps and devices.

The problem
The laptop arrived. The login did not.
Every start date means an admin building the JumpCloud user by hand, then working out which groups bind the apps and devices the role needs.
Miss a group and the new hire cannot sign in to their laptop or open a key app. Set it up differently each time, and two people in the same role end up with different access.
The outcome
Day-one access, set up in one request
Stepwork creates the JumpCloud user and adds them to the groups from the request. Their apps and devices are bound before they start, and the run records who asked and which groups were added.
- The user is created with the details from the request.
- Every group in the request is added.
- A duplicate email stops the run.
The process
From Slack request to a ready JumpCloud user
A teammate posts the new hire’s details in Slack. Stepwork creates the user in the JumpCloud console and adds their groups, in the same order every time.
- Step 1
Request it in Slack
A teammate posts the new hire’s name, work email, and groups in the onboarding channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.
- Step 2
Create the user
Stepwork signs in to the JumpCloud console and creates the user. If that email already belongs to someone, the run stops instead of creating a duplicate.
- Step 3
Add their groups
Stepwork adds the user to each group from the request. Those groups bind their apps and devices, so access is ready on day one.
- Step 4
Confirm and reply in Slack
Stepwork checks the user and their group memberships, then posts the result back in Slack.
Why Stepwork
The same role gets the same groups
Stepwork runs the path you recorded in the JumpCloud console: create the user, then add each group from the request. Two new hires in the same role get the same access, whoever picks up the ticket.
