The problem
The deal moved. The board did not.
Reps announce stage changes in Slack, then wait for someone with CRM access to click through HubSpot. Until that happens, forecasts and dashboards show yesterday’s pipeline.
When the update finally lands, the note is often missing. Weeks later, nobody can say who moved the deal or why the close date slipped.
The outcome
The board reflects the deal in real time
Stepwork finds the deal and updates stage, amount, or close date from the request, with a note on the change. The board stays current, and the run records who asked.
- Stage, amount, or close date match the request.
- A note documents what changed.
- If the deal cannot be found, the run stops.
The process
From Slack request to an updated deal
A rep or ops teammate posts the change in Slack. Stepwork updates the deal in HubSpot and leaves the note.
- Step 1
Request it in Slack
Someone posts the deal name or id and the approved stage, amount, or close date in the sales channel. Stepwork records who asked and when.
- Step 2
Find the deal
Stepwork signs in to HubSpot and opens the deal. If nothing matches, or more than one deal matches, the run stops instead of guessing.
- Step 3
Apply the change
Stepwork updates the fields from the request and adds a note that names the change.
- Step 4
Confirm and reply in Slack
Stepwork checks the deal against the request, then posts the result back in Slack.
Why Stepwork
Every update leaves a trail
Stepwork runs the path you recorded in HubSpot: find the deal, change the fields, write the note. The board stays honest, and the timeline shows who asked for the change.
