Grant 1Password vault access

One Slack request. The vault opens with a log.

The problem

Vault access depends on whoever owns it.

Someone needs a shared vault for a project or role change. The request lands with the vault owner, who may be out, or with IT, who still has to click through admin by hand.

There is no consistent path. Approvals live in chat threads, and nobody can show later who got which vault when.

The outcome

Credential access requests get a logged path

Stepwork adds the member to the specified shared vault with the permission level from the request and confirms it. Access is consistent, and the run records who asked and what changed.

  • The member is added to the named vault.
  • The permission level matches the request.
  • If the member or vault cannot be found, the run stops.

The process

From Slack request to vault access

IT posts the member, vault, and permission in Slack. Stepwork grants access in 1Password admin.

  1. Step 1

    Request it in Slack

A teammate posts the member’s work email, vault name, and permission level in the access channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.

  2. Step 2

    Find the member and vault

Stepwork signs in to the 1Password admin console and locates the member and the shared vault. If either is missing, the run stops.

  3. Step 3

    Grant vault access

Stepwork adds the member to the vault with the permission level from the request.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm and reply in Slack

Stepwork checks that the member appears on the vault with the right permission, then posts the result back in Slack.

Why Stepwork

Access changes leave a trail

Stepwork runs the grant path you recorded. Vault requests stop depending on whoever owns the vault that week.
