Revoke Dropbox link

One Slack request. The exposed URL dies.

Book a Demo

The problem

The risky link stays live until someone remembers.

A shared Dropbox link can outlive the project that needed it. Security spots the URL, but killing it means finding the owner or digging through the admin console.

While that waits, the link still resolves. Anyone with the URL can keep opening the file.

The outcome

Exposed links die on request

Stepwork revokes the specified shared link and confirms it no longer resolves. The response records who asked and when. If the risk is the person still having access, not one URL, Suspend member in Dropbox ends their account instead.

Suspend member in Dropbox
  • The named shared link is revoked.
  • The URL no longer resolves.
  • If the link cannot be found, the run stops.

The process

From Slack request to a dead shared link

Security posts the shared link in Slack. Stepwork revokes it in Dropbox and confirms it no longer opens.

  1. Step 1

    Request it in Slack

A teammate posts the Dropbox shared link URL in the security channel. That message starts the flow, and Stepwork records who asked and when.

  2. Step 2

    Find the shared link

Stepwork signs in to Dropbox and locates the shared link. If it cannot be found, the run stops.

  3. Step 3

    Revoke the link

Stepwork revokes the shared link, the same change an admin makes by hand.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm and reply in Slack

Stepwork checks that the URL no longer resolves, then posts the result back in Slack.

Why Stepwork

Link kill stays on the response path

A deterministic agent runs the revoke path you recorded. Exposed links do not wait on whoever owns the folder that week.

FAQ

Common questions

  • Post the shared link URL in Slack. Stepwork finds it, revokes it, and confirms the URL no longer resolves.
  • No. Suspending a member is a separate Dropbox flow. This one only kills the named link.
    Suspend member in Dropbox
  • Stepwork confirms it no longer resolves and replies with that status. It does not fail the run for an already-dead link.
